Another barn find!
« on: August 07, 2010, 07:49:37 AM »
Just kidding. Was looking for another SOHC painter and ran into this guy today. All the stuff in his facebook was built and painted by him including the CB750s, Maybe you've seen it. I had not.

Rats. I was getting ready to be jealous of your barn find!  :D
I must be nuts: I like seeing the pictures of "Look at this rusty old hulk of a 750 I found!".  8)

OK, in that case here's my 300 dollar K1 winner I just found. ;D The rest of it is in various boxes in the garage. Needs bored, pistons, valve job, etc but I'm game, I think.

Ah, now I feel better...it's hard to go wrong with a K1!

Yes this will be #3. I'm collecting them ;) I'm a K1 collector. But this one needs pistons and cylinder bore, as we discussed. I've already done the port clean-up and valve job to the bast of my ability, which is beginner at best. This is the one I want to use the K0 head and cam on so I want it to run gooood!

I've always liked the term "barn fresh".

Yes, sounds like "farm fresh"

There's this TV show here in the states called 'Pickers' where these two Yokels in a van travel from barn to barn throughout the great mid west trying to swindle some aged and unsuspecting barn owner out his life-long possessions only to turn around and sell them all the time bragging about how much profit they could make on them. Occasionally these 'pickers' will collide on the open road and then like some kind of weird ritual mating dance, try to squeeze the last cent of profit out of one another. All quite disgusting. You have anything like that in 'oz'?

They do find some neat stuff on that show though. One of the guys is a motorcycle nut and they have an upcoming episode where he finds a prewar excelsior in some guys barn, the last part of the clip he is offering him $8500 for it. Stuff like that makes me want to win the lottery and go digging through other peoples junk!  ;)
