Front Fender Plaque
« on: August 15, 2010, 11:37:09 AM »
I've seen a few really old bikes with a plaque on the front fender. I asked a buddy of mine awhile ago and he called it a "Pedestrian ??something or another" does anyone know what these things are called. Also any good cheap places to get one for my 75 550?

Lastly, do I have to drill into the fender to put these things on?
Its hard to be wrong when you know nothing!

Its a "pedestrian slicer" euphemistically.

ITs a throwback to a British requirement to have their license plate on the front fender.

I think most that do it now do it homemade. Gotta drill, mostly.

Google pedestrian slicer, you'll find ideas.

Our British friends should chime in on this, but you are talking about a "pedestrian splitter".  Pre '75, motorbikes in the UK had the licence plates mounted on top of the front fender.  Looks great on an old Triumph, matches the checkerboard stickers on a mid 70's Honda

It is a proven fact that modifying a SOHC Honda in any way will bring on the apocalypse.

Your probably thinking of the front number plate normally found on the older UK market bikes and their fenders came already drilled. The attached pics are from my CB750 parts book and I'm pretty sure it's the same part numbers for the 500/550 number plate and hardware. The UK members here would know for sure.

If you can't locate the genuine Honda part, reproduction plates can be found here:

This guy sells them. But yes you will have to drill. Go half way down the page to see them.
