Throttle Issue...linked to bad carb. Any Ideas?
« on: July 13, 2010, 05:47:40 pm »
I have a really strange issue with my throttle control and any help/input is appreciated.

I had just cleaned out my carbs, reassembled it and put it back on my bike. I had linked the throttle&choke cable back on the carbs and I know I did that correctly because I marked the cables atleast...
I drank an entire 40 oz with a sense of huge accomplishment and celebrated my first "major" tune up on my first bike ever.
Afterwards, I try to start the bike and realize that my throttle is stuck. and when I try to close the throttle, it opens( so the throttle turns the opposite way), though im not sure if its even opening.
The bike did'nt do that when I first got it and it was running fairly well. The issue I'm having now seems really uncomfortable on my wrist. ( It can be a good work out though haha)

anyways has anyone had this problem or know how to prevent it???

Thanks!

That was my first guess too but when I reverse the connection, the throttle doesnt move at all.
could I possibly have reassembled the carbs wrong and that may have affected the throttle action?
If so which part in the carb?

Thanks everyone

make sure that the throttle shaft isn't binding.

I finally found the time to take off my carbs to check and the throttle shaft is indeed binding. None of them are moving. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this problem?

loosen all of the screws on the mounting plate and re-align the carbs.  Check for binding before putting them back on.

I apologize man I'm a nooob to forums in general. But i don't know what the problem was to be honest! haha
I had a binding problem somewhere in the carbs, i dont know where but when i took each carbs apart and messed withe the main shafts, it started moving again.

Ill make sure I post this type of info a earlier next time ;D
