B-day present - I Am Ozzy, an auto biography. Looking forward to it.
"No. We're all our own prisons, we are each all our own wardens and we do our own time. I can't judge anyone else. What other people do is not really my affair unless they approach me with it. Prison's in your mind. Can't you see I'm free"?  Testimonial of Charles Manson

I guess you can't go wrong with a Marine Corp Book though...
I have read quite a few of his series , all the way through the spy series then I found out they are all the same.
I am not a big fan of Military books, but someone gave me this book.  I liked the main character so I stayed with it as he progressed in his career and life.

I agree, I just liked the people so much I wanted to see what happened.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Ugh - I just started reading Secret Honor by WEB Griffin.  Turns out, it's the third in a series of books about a group of characters.  125 pages in to a 600 page book, and I STILL have no idea who's who or what's going on, and none of it matches the plot summary blurb on the back of the book.  Sheesh.  Like watching The Godfather II beginning half-way through without having seen anything prior.

Good story from the 1970's for those who like WWII history:

Holding out in the Philippine jungle for 30 years convinced that World War II was still being fought, Japanese 2nd Lt. Hiroo Onoda became a hero in Japan when he emerged from hiding in 1974 after fighting World War II's longest and loneliest battle. "No Surrender" is his first-person account.

Worst Journey in the World by Apsley Cherry-Garrand

A memoir of the ill fated British Antarctic Expedition of Robert Falcon Scott of 1910-13 by the youngest member of Scott's team.  He was later part of the rescue party that eventually found the frozen bodies of Scott and three men who had accompanied Scott on the final push to the Pole. These deaths would haunt Cherry-Garrard for the rest of his life as he questioned the decisions he had made and the actions he had taken in the days leading up to the Polar Party's demise.

"a trip so appalling, so horrendous, so absolute in its misery and its danger that you cannot think a man could endure it for a day, much less for five weeks”

this book is often at the top of the list of books about adventure, survival, and Polar exploration
