Pictures are better but if not available a detailed description would work. I'm putting the 750 engine back together and want to put the 3 "cable clamps" in their original location. One goes on the oil pan, one is for the wire coming from the points plate, and the other I believe is under the sprocket cover. Being REALLY anal about my "little" project and want them to go in the original locations. My Honda parts catalogue does not show an exact location and makes you believe 2 are on top of the engine while my Honda shop manual is the one that has had the pictures copied so many times you can't make out any detail.

HELP. Thanks!!!!! !{

I have a camera.

BUT

My CB750K4 has had several engines installed by several people.  I couldn't begin to guess if the clamps are there or if they're in the correct position.  One of the guys that owned for a while, built the last engine and he was a Honda fanatic and obsessive.  He was in possession of the bike about 3 owners ago.  However, he was killed 20 years ago.

Here's hoping someone else will step-up.

The online microfiches are all basically the same as what I've seen so far and not much help. If you take a look you'll understand.

One goes under the top of the sprocket cover I believe. I THINK it is under the front, longer, outside bolt of the 3 that are grouped together??

Another is to hold the points plate wire and is between the point cover and clutch cover. Two 6mm flange bolts there on the bottom of the engine. One 50mm and one 100mm. It MAY go under the longer 100mm bolt from looking at the fiches but the shorter bolt might make more sense. This should be the easiest of the 3 to check.

The 3rd cable clamp goes on the oil pan and I BELIEVE it is on the bolt nearest to the drain bolt.

CONFIRM OR DENY ANY OF THE THREE.

OK Jerry I will try to help. I can confirm that you are correct about the clamp on the oil pan. See page 47 of the "SHOP MANUAL Honda CB750". There are two numbers on the back cover of this manual. 6230010 and A5007710. I will now search for the  other clamps.
Hope this helps. Pat

Pat and Scottly,

Many thanks.

Pat,

My manual is the same as yours but the pictures have been copied one too many times. No real discernable definition to them. Your first 2 I saw with your help knowing where to look. Fig K7-25 is impossible to see clearly. Kinda looks like it's under the left hand bolt vs the right hand bolt in Scottly's picture?? Can you confirm that. Wanna trade shop manuals?  ;)

Oh, I take that back. It appears to be under the shorter bolt below the top 2 longer bolts?? Perhaps?

Terry,

I'll still send some pics even if the other guys decided to help and you didn't !  ;D Send me your pix anyway so I can drool over that sweet bike (even if it's not yer F)

I see what you mean Jerry. In Fig K7-25 the clamp is definitely on the lower LH bolt shown in Scotty's picture. There seem to be three cables in the loom held by the clamp. One would probably be the neutral switch and the other two probably go to the alternator field. This maybe a change in the later Ks and I think it is the same on my F2 - not 100% sure however. Pat

Woooohooooooo, Gamma is da man! That's what I needed. Clearer than mud! And the POOR picture quality of my Honda Shop Manual too! The manual looks like it places the clamp on the oil pan one bolt farther to the rear but that didn't make sense. I'm going with your pix!

Thanks to all for helping build my NOS Honda 1975 CB900F K0 Super Sport! That's what this site is all about  ;)

Terry, you're off the hook mate! Besides you're spending way too much time with that roo  ;D
