« on: August 20, 2010, 05:22:02 AM »
Hey all.... looking for a source of 630 series Gold chain...cannot find it anywhere...
I'm wondering if somebody knows of a place?

If not...where's a good place for us Canadians to get 88 links worth of decent 630 series chain?

Any reccomendations!?

Thanking you all in advance!!
Cheers!

I just ordered an EK630RSO (98 link/ no stock on 88link) for a customer through Motovan.
Not alot of choices in 630, I went with 530 and got the EK530MVXZ in chrome.

(CB750 K8) got one from (davidsilverspares) did not ask for gold but that is what they sent it did have a press on master link you have to ask for the clip type.

I switched to 530 as well. I know a 520 would work but I never saw sprockets for 520 to a fit a 750.

I wonder what the weight savings would be between 530 and 520. I know the 630 is massive but does it ever look cool!

How long do shipments take from David Silver Spares?

Those colored chains from Cycle X are BAD-ASS Too!!

I have dealt with DSS 3 or 4 times with the cheapest shipping took about 5 to 7 days one order was 4 days. I had to call once to make sure I was ordering the correct part VERY VERY good people to work with.

My 630 is in Great condition "stretch" wise...with absolutely no play...but there are a few stiff links from sitting soooooo long.  I had it soadking in ATF fluid for almost 2 weeks... it made a HUGE difference...but still a few stiffies.  I'm sure it would "unstiffen" really quick with a few rides...I've always just been horny for some Gold chain... and the more I think about it...the more i LOVE the BEEF of the 630.... everybody who's been to my place and seen the chain have said... "HOLY S^%T that's a big ass chain"  And I'm like..."yeah" ...that's how I roll dood....big and heavy... :D  All good fun.  I really like the idea of weight savings with the 520/30...and the plethora of availability...but girth is cool too! ahah   I'm still up in the air about it.... but I'll probably stick with the 630 for now.

And I may even do what you say...make sure the M.L. is good, or buy a new one and ride on that for a bit until I know if I want different ratio's or something! (which would quickly lead me to the 520/530)

Cheers!
And Thanks a lot everybody for all the fantastic input!!

what i did to resurect my chain was while the ol'lady is out pour some motor oil in a pan and stick your chain in it. heat the oven to 300 and pop it in there for about 20-30 min then pul the pan out and let it sit and cool back to room temp. it takes a while (oil has a high specific heat) but when done it should be nice and loose hang the chain to drain over the pan for a few days then wipe clean.

No way!?..that's a nifty idea!  I may get beaten if the house smells funny...but I think I can do the same on the ol' BBQ! Set it on super low heat...let it slowly rise to 300 under the lid...and leter' go for a while.  I think I may try that! Thanks MC1112!!

My new (630) 88 links without master link gold chain out of the box from DSS weighs 5lb/5oz. I do not have a 520 or 530.so that is all I can give.

Oh awesome bollingball! Good to know! Now we just need somebody to measure their converted lenght worth of 530 and get a comparisson.

Schmthaus! That's exactly what I'm looking for!...just a few more links, a lot less hair and a gender change...we'd be all set!   :D

Quote from Cycle X: Approx. 3 lbs of weight can be shaved off using a 520 sprocket and chain combination.
Even more weight can be reduced if you have a 77-78 with the massive 630 chain and sprocket combo.
Fits 69-78 Honda cb750's

Slide down the page and they have "GOLD" chains!!
