New regulator Question

  Has anyone out there installed a regulator from Oregon Motorcycle Parts on their 750? I will installing one and a new rectifier on my 73' 750 this weekend, so I'd appreciate any feed back about these products. They sound like they are well made and should cure my bike woes.

I put one on my CB400 and CB500.  They work great.  It is important to get a good output voltage reference.  For my 500 I just connected the regulator as a direct replacement with existing wiring and it worked well.  I had to get a better voltage signal for the 400 and used the output of a relay which I installed for the ignition coils as a voltage source.

 Thanks guys. I'm installing the regulator and recitifier today, that is after I spend a few hours up on the ladder glazing windows! Whoopeeeeeee!

 Whew! Somehow this newbie managed to install both of them all by myself and the bike did start back up, yaaah me! Goatman. did you have to tweak your setting on the regulator?  I'm going to leave the setting to factory at least for today and see how it works. I also install a new Scorpion battery even though the other was fairly new, I wanted to start out fresh. Now for a ride around the block!

No I did not do anything besides swap the parts out. The only "extra thing I did was take apart and clean up all the connections on that end of the system. I also used dielectric grease when I reassembled everything.

 thanks Goatman, yeah I  took apart all of the connections I could get to and greased them up also! I'm still not sure how to test it though, here's what they sent me,which seem impossible on the rectifier since all of the wires are going into the plug. I've emailed them back for clarification. Besides that, my bikes seems to be running fine. Thanks, vern

Turn it to the right to increase voltage but you should do this with a
voltmeter connected to the + lead off the rectifier and the negative
lead grounded.

This procedure assures you that there is minimal voltage loss in wiring so you get an accurate alternator output voltage signal.  Just slide the + lead of your volt meter into the plug on the output of the rectifier and ground the other lead.  This is what I did with my CB500 and it worked fine.  There was the need for minor screw adjustment to get the target output voltage.
