Thank God for Google
« on: August 21, 2010, 12:34:01 AM »
I got some half arsed call from my son tonight about his sister who lives in Brisbane Australia having had an accident!
He got the message via my ex wife's fat slob husband.....go figure where this came from? >:(
Anyhow I don't panic, it's not in my nature or training, I jumped on the PC and started Googling Brisbane hospitals, at the same time checking to see if Retro Rocket had left his phone number on his SOHC4 site profile....he's in same city and would have been invaluable in directing me to the right hospital....they have 7 in that one city..#$%* we share one between 2 cities!!! duh!
Anyhow after a few wrong numbers I got to the right hospital and wonder of wonders they gave me an update on my girls condition.
That is kinda amazing as like most quasi govt depts we are all trained not to divulge personal information unless we can confirm identities...full marks to the young Aussie nurse who realised a rather concerned father across the Tasman sea and briefed me anyway. :)
Anyhow it seems my girl is OK but they are keeping her in for obs and I have to call back in an hour, kids...they'll be the death of me. ;)
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

You see accidents all the time, but nothing prepares you for a phone call like that!  Glad to hear that she'll be OK.
My daughter called me at work one afternoon a while back and was crying on the phone that she'd been in an accident (was read-ended by some kid not paying attention).  She was shaken, but not stirred, and was a bit sore for the next few days.  Anything worse and she would have been in the hospital too.
Yeah, I know what you mean....kids!

Cheers guys, my little girl (actually she's 34 but hey they are always your kids eh) :) Shona is going to be OK, a few stitches at back of head and a split eyebrow where she fell.
Still not sure why she collapsed but they are running tests, probably a good reason for me to jump on a plane and go see Retro for a few days. ;D
