71 cb500 ignition timing

i cant seem to get the test light to turn on at 1-4 F mark.  when i get to 1-4 F mark that is when my light turns off. kinda backwards. any ideas. i tried the search function but couldnt find anything. thanks!

i took a break and thought about what i was doing. i was turning the crank clock wise from the alternator side. but the points side it was spinning counter clockwise. so i turned the alt side counterclock wise and it worked. sorry for the stupid question. serious brain fart.
