Head rebuild, cam or no cam?
« on: August 22, 2010, 10:10:08 AM »
Hey guys,

Once I tear my bike apart I am going to send my head over to Mike R. I am doing all new valves, guides, seals, retainers, and springs. I am just wondering how much I will benefit from a cam. The bike is just for street use, I will be using pod filters, and the yoshimura replica exhaust. What do you think?

Thanks,

John

If you are doing the work, you may as well do the cam now. Are you porting as well?

I would spend the money on porting rather than a cam, if I had to choose. Your stock cam is a good all around cam for the street. Get an aftermarket stick if you don't mind pushing the powerband higher in the rev range.
