Cylinders not resting against case?? - was the tensioner
« on: August 21, 2011, 07:31:30 PM »
So I put my cylinders on and I cant seem to get them to sit down. I can get about 1/8 inch gap, any further and only one side will go down at a time, like something is holding it up. Cant think of what could hold it, except studs. Havent put much force, and I'm pretty sure the head with some torque would push it right down. Im not to worried just thought it should rest against the case.    Any thoughts?
oops CB750

Assuming CB750?

2 things. Usually.

The dowels are too long or aren't seating well.

The cam chain tensioner slider has a removable bar in it that needs to seat well.

Do not force it with the nuts drawing it down. It should sit flat and flush with nothing more than some rubber mallet taps.

yeah, I just did mine. First double checked the dowels before dropping the cyinders. But I did hang up on the slider. Luckily did not rip the base gasket lifting the cylinder enough to seat the pin in the slider into the cases.

thanks- turns out it was the tensioner, I appreciate the help. I had the plastic black things upside down. Chaulk this one up to impatience.
