Took my gauge cluster off....now my blinkers don't blink.

Well guys I own a 78 CB550k.
I took my gauge cluster off in preparation for some after market gauges I've purchased and immediately my blinkers didn't work.  And of course they didn't work because they weren't connected to anything anymore.  My after market turn signals have two wires coming from them.  I thought I was fixing the issue by connecting one of the two wires into the female plug I know it's supposed to connect to.  Now when I flip the blinker switch they turn on but they don't blink.  It can't be the relay because it's a rather new, solid state relay.  It's gotta be the wiring but I'm just not sure exactly what I've done wrong.  I've followed the wiring diagram so that the one female insert that each blinker is going into is what looks to be the correct wire.  But like I said, there are two wires coming from each blinker and I only have one from each blinker connected, I just can't figure where the other one plugs into or weather it's a requirement or not.  I can take pics if necessary.  I just wasn't quite sure what to take pics of exactly.  Anyone have any explanations or ideas?

BTW: No I have not put after market gauges on.  I was hoping to figure this issue out first.

Thanks in advance.

In a two wire front winker setup the two wires should be positive for the running filament and blinker filament. You would probably have to ground the body to the third ground wire.

Or you might be trying to mount single filament rear signals to the front which would give you no front running lights which could be illegal in your state- check the laws.

Check the number of filaments in each bulb to confirm what you have.
