Bad gas?
« on: October 18, 2010, 04:54:33 PM »
Hello all,

I think I got some bad gas from the station the other day.

I think this because my bike read running fine then I filled up with 93 when I looked in the tank the gas looked cloudy and had little bits floating in it.

I didn't,think much because it,was late and I was tired.

I put some in a glass container and it looked like cloudy urine.

I took a picture but my phone didn't really do it justice.

I was sure this was gonna be a Blazing Saddles topic! ;D
Sounds like the gas station is running low and you got some of the bottom of the tank dregs.
If you have a good filter you should be OK but I'd dump that gas (or use it in the mower/truck) and clean your filter before gassing up again.
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

People say know one is buying that "expensive 93" anymore because of the economy, just sitting in the tank, and you know that you only really need the 87 to get you down the Chi-town road anyway. Save a little bit and get the fresh----  PS- get some pics of the gas and your urine and we will take a poll   ;D

X

Makes you want to drain it, take it back to the station and pour it into their cash register!

Now, you've got to go to a lot of trouble because of someone's stupid negligence.

A local truck stop had that happen, there were dead cars all over the area.

another "possible" is if the station had received a shipment within the previous hour or so, filling the tank stirs the crap up off the bottom too...never buy gas at a place where you see the tanker delivering a load....

Yeah I dont, but everything was in the clear, so I thought. I let the glass sit and it looked very clear, then I moved it and a #$%* storm of sediment got stirred up, GREAT.

Looks like I need to drain the gas, maybe with new gas, fingers crossed, I wont have to clean the carbs.

If you add water to gas that has ethanol in it, it turns the gas cloudy.
