 I see a few Drtch enthusiasts on here, might be able to help me.
 I have various bit of motorcycle/ bicycle memorabilia from 1900-1950's mostly.
 A few years back I got an interesting piece, probably from Holland
 It is a trophy or award I believe, a cigarette case, round bakelite base, with silverplated dome, with a little cast motorcycle on top. Bike appears to be Norton Manx? with girder & rigid frame.. similar to trophy type castings.. approx 2 in long. Silver dome is about 5 inches high.
  Now it is engraved, that is why I am thinking Dutch.

Hey 754,

That is definitely dutch. It is a trophy from a ride for the victims of the flooding of '53. Big part of the south-west was flooded after a tremendous storm and the dikes broke. My, late, father was there as soldier rescueing people from roofs and treetops.
He told me once of that ride. Can you show a picture of the trophy? I know someone in that particular part of Holland who survived and was a motorcyclist.
