if you look at the sheer numbers in WWII, you will see who brought a token force, and who carried the brunt of the fighting.

I said EUROPE, not aussie, kiwi, or canada

It was November 1942 when US troops started their European campaign, the war had been going for nearly 3 years at this point,  it wasn't all about the US. Your history seems to be very one eyed Joe and that arrogant attitude is one of the very reasons that the US suffers image wise over seas. As for the brunt of the fighting, Russia would have to be at the top of that list, their troop numbers and losses were massive, nearly 24 million Russians died in WW2, or nearly 24% of its population the US losses were tiny by comparison at 416,000 or .3% of the population. If the US hadn't have stepped in,  the war would have still been won by the Allies, it just would have taken a bit longer...

I was in the Army, then got out and went in the Air Force a few years later.

52/195= 27%

Last time I checked, that does not a majority make.

Fun Fact: More people in China will speak English than in the entire English speaking world combined.

The story in the original post neglects to mention that the Marine was suffering from PTSD. Unable to get the help he desperately needed, he had already physically assaulted his wife and lost his visitation rights with his children. The only reason he joined the armed forces in the first place was to get a college grant. Now his family is ripped apart and he faces criminal charges. Furthermore he is thrown out of school, and is still suffering from crippling anxiety and depression.

That sounds a bit more realistic to me.

Obviously the story is a parable intended to illustrate a specific moral value. People who pass these along reveal their simple mindedness and their lack of capacity for critical thinking. This particular gem here was offensive to the Marine Corp., Believers and Atheists, and Americans.

I assume that is a rhetorical question and therefore doesn't require a response.
