Put 186 miles on it today - didn't quit & no blown fuses!!!
« on: August 28, 2010, 03:26:41 PM »
Well, thanks to the help & advice you guys gave me, the ol' bike may be "fixed"! The ol' '77 CB550F is up and going. I can't thank you enough!

Rode 186 miles today - mostly 2-lane roads, mountain & valley twisties - including a 22-mile slow, twisty run by the TN River in 3rd gear [20 to 35 mph] - paved but rugged terrain. Even with that, she got 49 mpg! Ran like a top!!!

This makes about a 250 mile total without missing a beat with the "improvements" you told me to make. This is a great and helpful group of men and a fine Forum!!!

I am really grateful to all who helped.

Many thanks

Gaither

Yeah, we must love ''em. Otherwise, why would we spend so much time and money on 'em?

Honda made 'em pretty well, for the most part, and there's obviously a bunch of 'me still "out there" running.

My Sat run was with an '04 1100 Shadow and an '02 Triumph T'bird. All kinds of terrain - mountains, valleys etc. Ol' 550 done gooood!!! With you guys helping, it'll do fine for an old man.
