If it's a 550 you can get it out of the frame fairly simply, plus it's lighter than the 750.  If it's a 750, you'll probably have an easier go at loosening the bolts that hold it to the frame, setting it on its side, and taking everything apart.

If your chain has a riveted master, you can cut it off.  If it's got a clip type master, just take off the clip.

What bike do you have?
Just call me Timmaaaaay!!!

If it's a 750 mate, you gotta pull it out from the right hand side. Try putting an old mattress on the floor, and after undoing all the engine mounting bolts, lay the bike over on it's points cover, and pull the bike away from the engine. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

When I removed the engine from my CB550F it was easier than expected (and the engine was heavier than I expected)

I found the trick was to get the bike up on the centre stand, loosen off all the bolts and have the engine supported.  I used a small pump jack with a couple of bits of wood on top.

I think the whole procedure is well outlined in the workshop manual ( well it is for the CB550)

The engine is removed out the side.

Vise grips might work mate, or try a hammer and a chisel, the bolt is buggared anyway, so try hitting the head of the bolt in an anti-clockwise direction, and that should undo it for you. You can buy new bolts with 17mm heads (instead of the puny 12mm OEM) from JC Whitney for 12 bucks. Cheers, Terry. ;D
