« on: April 10, 2010, 01:20:11 PM »
i pulled these off a long time ago and dont remember which way they face. manual says the "arrow" should be forward, but i dont have arrows, ive got dots. they face forward? that is the side with the most carbon so i assume thats correct... any help?

You're right, arrows or dots toward exhaust.

i assume the rubber thingies go around the studs, i only have four used ones, but there are eight in my gasket kit and with the head gasket on that looks right. pictured here:

still dont know where the four large metal dowels go or the two smaller ones pictured in the post above.

I suggest that you download the K8/F3 service manual andhave a look at chapter 6 and 7. You need to get this right and there are good photos in the manual. Look carefully at these photos because there are differences between the K8 and the F3. Pat

so ive got the cam holder, cam and sprocket on, and the chain all on there.

manual says that when 1 and 4 are at tdc i should have the right end of the cam laying level with the cam holder. the two dashes should be lined up with the notch at 12 o clock. but when i get the T in the window at the points my cam ends up here......

got a little bit done. motor is in the frame. shaved some useless tabs, will get some more off when i mock it up some more and figure out where my oil bag and electrics are gonna go. not sure if im sold on the stock tank or not. arent many options though. the goofy back bone support crap kinda makes it hard to try other #$%* on there.

finally had time to get more #$%* done.

motors back together, in the frame, wiring harness on.

will start and run now but still gotta to some tuning

got a seat pan cut down

and im gonna run this supertrapp which looks pretty cool

went by the local muffler shop and a dude there hooked me up on a muffler adapter. took him about 5 mins on their little pipe expander thingy. he refused to let me pay him so i got it done free. ill make another little support thing to keep it mounted up.

sounds pretty cool. video sound quality isnt great. the bike will start and idle real hard with the choke on, just shuts off with no choke. i dont have a tach yet so i havent messed with the carb/idle adjustment yet.

<param name="movie" value=" name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385">

and i gave the wiring harness a hair cut

the bike will start now just fine. with the choke on, i just hit the button and it starts right up.

but it wont run with the choke off. im gonna go through the manual and follow the carb tuning/setup instructions.

but anybody got any tips on where to start? or how i should jet it?

gonna run pods with that supertrapp. ive read that ill need to go up 25% in jet size. right now theyre stock.

ill probly just drill em out with some jet bits. anybody done that before and have recommendations on how big i should go?
