cb750 charging?
« on: August 29, 2010, 01:41:04 PM »
77 cb750f
New rectifier
New strator
Dyna 3 ohm coils and Dyna S ignition.
Runs great but then after about 40 miles id continuous riding won't start due to drained battery.  Could my field coil also be bad.  The strator cover was damaged by the po.

What else?
Thanks

I would look there after changing those other parts out.
Those new parts could be bad too, did you test them all?

Thanks for the reply.  That is what I suspected.  All the new parts tested out good.

Changing parts until it works is the expensive way to make repairs.
Measuring things to determine which parts need to be replaced, I find more economical.
Especially if what is wrong is a broken wire.

If your field coil is working, you should be able to place a piece of iron (wrench, etc) next to it while it is running and it will be magnetically attracted.
