I really like your headlight and gauge setup. The bigger light works with the smaller gauges and looks great.

Tried lowering the light and it just looked awkward so I'm keeping it up high...

Did you ever figure out what battery you are going to use. I'm looking for a  real small one. And came across this post. scroll down a bit and check out Howell's post. http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=70716.0

I wonder how reliable a setup like one of those is? The batteries are pretty cheap on ebay, I'm thinking about trying it out... Anyone have any thoughts on that?

I ended up deciding on Ballistic http://www.ballisticparts.com/products/batteries/batteries.html for the batteries.

I like that they are fully enclosed, have the same contact points as a regular battery and a 3 year warranty.

Best of all...they match my color scheme!...lol

Haven't bought one yet...only because still have so much to work on and having a battery that will just sit on the shelf for months doesn't seem logical.

I like what your doing. I also like how you did the LED in the tach. The other option that I did was using those rubber LED flexible 6" strips. I have the full size clocks and they wrap around the inside clock case perfectly. I used the blue color like yours. The flex strips are about $8.00 with free shipping for a set of four on Ebay, super bright too. Although what you did works perfect with the smaller clock.  Nice job!
Sometimes...the hard thing and the right thing are the same thing!

Its funny, but the LED's are actually white. they just turned out looking blue in the picture (Camera phone after all).
I thought Blue or even red might look cool, but I'm happy w/ the white. The whole point is for me to be able to see them.
The other was to match the color. The Speedo already had a white backlight...the tach was DIM and yellow. Now they match up very nicely.

Re: FREE BOOTER's 1975 CB750 K5 - What kind of bike do I have?

So I see all the same sh@T...Brat this, cafe that , wrench monkee blah blah blah..Street tracker, bobber, chop, street fighter..blah blahblah..

I know enough to know that the "purist interpretation" would likely disqualify what most people call their bikes and to be honest most are a real stretch.

So what kinda bike am I building exactly? Just wanted someone's take on it.

Using drag bars w/ rear-sets on a flat tracker (sort of) styled seat...which is basically the stock pan w/ a much needed(in my opinion) redo.

Modern levers (pics to come) paint-pot gauges....

I guess at best its a hybrid...or a slightly modded stocker?

Lookin' fer 'pinions har.

As promised...pics of the new throttle & levers:

Question...Mirror mount: Shave it or save it? A friend told me I should fab up a nice cup holder to bolt on there LOL

Reservoir is nice and level...

You'll note here...not much clearance got Brake line , but it fits...Banjo bolt fits perfect too.

Plus..I just bought a set of these in stainless steel:

Levers have a nice responsive feel and aren't loose...feel nice ,smooth and solid.

Those levers are nice. For the mirror mount I went to ACE hardware and found a stainless allen head that fit in there. Looks pretty cool IMO.

are those the ebay levers and stufF??  i bought a set of these and haven't had a chance to try em out!  i was a little weary as they're cheap asian parts, but they looked like decent quality!  very nice looking!  I shaved my mirror mount, makes it look a lot better!  i'll just polish mine back up afterwards.

do you have one of the DCC all-in-one control boxes?  i have the same one, and it seems like it's going to be quite nice!  well done on parts, glad someone is at my level here!  :-D

Well...nothing wrong with mine other than they are powder coated black..and not terribly well.
I could just sandblast it again, but instead I've found all new covers to have someone else powder coat them in a smooth satin black instead of glossy...
I just happen to be short the Stator cover...So if you wanted to do a direct swap..I'd be up for that...Just keep in mind while my stator is in perfect condition...the Pwder coat job is shyte so it'd have to be sandblasted.

If you're looking to sell those parts let me know mate, I'm restoring a K6 and need most of those parts? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Was looking for more of a semi-local trade, but I solved my stator problem just the same. I just took my old one, bit the bullet and dowsed it in marine stripper and scrubbed it then blasted it w/ water (when the stripper started burning by skin)...yes I had the gloves and gear.
The hand sanded it a but...so I'm good to go.

ugh...So soon. So tired of waiting.

Those smooth fork tops ought to be here on Thursday. Will post pics if they are.

THE ENGINE IS IN!  I actually did it myself in 45 mins...It's probably best you don;t ask..lets just say..I will not be doing it again, but I manage not to scartch anything.

All I need now is an exhaust, fenders and carbs.  Will be working out the electrical soon.

I'm open to anyone who has either an exhaust or Carbs for sale...looking to m buy and mount asap.

Also need a few odds and ends a.k.a "bolts and stuff I thought I had and are now missing.

Need the motor mount bolts for the upper front right side where the triangle is ...missing all 3.

Need the little cylinder thing ma-jiggy that the rear drum brake line attaches to.

need a new screw for the front speedo cable where it attached to the axle...the one on mine is munched and I'll have to drill tap it back out...sucks. I HATE phillip's screws..guess I can probably source one at the hardware store.

So to the pics!!!!

I must be just a couple of weeks ahead of you...

I just got my carbs from GnarlieCharlie in his post in the classifieds.
He has many more sets from the look so fit and is a great guy to deal with.

As far as exhaust, I cancelled my order with Carpy and he refunded me. (We are still on good terms, I just couldn't wait any longer...long story.) I got a stainless yoshi rep from Lossa, and its on its way...I have tracking saying it will be here any day.

Oh, hey I see you got the folding rearsets from FastfromthePast...does the kick starter clear the rear brake?
If so I will change out the pegs for folding versions, please let me know.
