No plate yet...Still gotta get a new wire harness and work out the electrical. Also...The Taillight /stock bolt holes are too close together to bolt through the fenders stock threads. so trying to figure That out now... making the taillight bolt down holes bigger is one option I'm looking at.

I put Pamco on mine, as soon as I realized coil cables are shot -  got one of those combos from vintagecb750.

I am very happy with it, dealt with points in previous life and decided I don't need that much excitement in my life any more.  You install Pamco and forget about it - unlike points.

I am as conservative as the next Joe, but fuel injection and electronic ignition are true blessings   :)

I decided the look of the LED taillight assembly was just too modern looking ...or at least not "hand made" enough so I modified it a bit.

Before:

and AFTER with new Stainless Steel "Lens Guards"...hehehe:

They seem to give off plenty of light:

The kind of remind me of exhaust baffles and the placement in the rear really lends to that too...

On a slightly more "annoying" note...my front tire went flat..must of had a slow leak. I'm theorizing that either the tube was slightly punctured when mounting or the layer of duct tape I used wasn't enough to keep the spokes from rubbing on it. Any other theories on why this may have happened are welcome of course.

Just glad it happened before I started riding it. The rear tire is great..no issues.

More bad news. Just found out from Gnarlie Charlie  I sent my brake rotor to Gnarlie Charlie and my carbs to Anubis....Wrong parts to wrong individuals.

SON OF UH!!

I contacted them both by PM and email in the hopes they will just send the parts to eachother and save on extra time and shipping, but neither has responded.

Charlie is a great guy...they will likely work it out. It may cost you a few bucks more in shipping, but it would save you time to have them exchange the parts instead of doubling the shipping time and costs.

Actually everyone I've dealt with on here has been amazing, great group of guys here.

Yeah it all worked out. 736 got the shocks. Charlie's sending the rotor to Anubis and I got a hold of Anubis and he's expecting the carbs tin the mail to ship out to Charlie. Everyone was VERY understanding.

...But what do you think of the lights!!?

OPINIONS please?

Love 'em or hate 'em ..As usual...I was kinda "meh" about 'em, but now I really like them.

I dig the lights. Is it possible to move them more forward though? It looks like there's a gap between them and the seat. It would look alot cleaner without the gap.

I was originally going to use Flashlight bezels like these:

...but I was in a wild hurry so I just drove over to Hm Dpt and grabbed these. Besides...its a frakin pain to locate something the EXACt size you need online and those puppies are expensive!

Maybe I'll do something different later, but I'm content enough with them for now.

Did you use tire irons or screw drivers?

Yeah...Thought about that, but they're pretty much stuck where the are and the bolts for the back of the light mount stick out so I'd have to cut them shorter. I DO intend to bend the angle of the mounting plate a bit more to get them to more of an angle where they aren't looking up though...

They were mount by a tire mounting machine...with all the professional tire tools. Still I remember the front being a tight fit and the guy having more trouble wit it. Think they may have "stuck " the tube or the valve stem was damaged?

If you used duct tape for a rim strip, a spoke might have pinched it?

That was my thought too..only thing is..I used two layers in both front and back and rear fine. I'm going to fill it with air and see if I can fine the leak.

New Headlights and other stuff.
« Reply #245 on: October 16, 2011, 03:07:08 PM »
Well, the tube was flat ...had a hole in it...NOT from the spokes apparently, but I'm double ply'ing the seal just the same.
Bought a new tube. Have my spare wheel and tire from the '71 on it right now.

Also got new head lights!!!!

Just kidding...
I'll likely use the square on a new project, but not this one.

I got theses Dual Dominator style headlights.  Pics are bad and don;t do them justice, but when ISN'T that the case?

I use some ratty old rust brackets just to "mock them up".
I just bought a set of these to go with the lights:

Which means THESE (my old ones) are up for sale (unless I end up using them on another project).

Also slapped together a temporary exhaust solution. I'm waiting until the bike is complete and them I'm getting a Yoshi style exhaust. In the mean time...I stripped, sanded, painted and cut the old Hooker 4-2's off the '71. I'm going to wrap the headers in black exhaust wrap.

Matching them up with a set of these (on their way-should be here on Thursday).

As always...Questions, comments, opinions or criticisms welcome.

Those are the EXACT headlight brackets I have...did you take off the tinfoil hat again?

I love them though, but they are pretty easy to scratch, I think I'll be spending some time polishing them again once I'm done.

Test fitted the Hooker manifold to see where the Megaphones will be mounted and how far they'll stick out. Looks like it'll be ok. I'll know for sure when they come in the mail on Thursday.

I should have them wrapped and the reverse megaphone exhaust tips mounted within a couple of weeks.
More pics to come.

Those headlights kick a$$!  And that exhaust is gonna look killer on there. I'm really liking this thing.
