Agree.  IMO go for black with red on the fender (if you choose to mount a fender).  That will balance with the rear rend (which has no white).  Leave the white for the tank.

Well...after sobering up and a good night's sleep i took another look at the tank and fender.

I've decided to send the tank over to Josh of http://oldschoolhelmets.webs.com/. I love his work and he quoted me a good price.

I'm sticking with the design I have on it now, but I believe Josh can give it the professional hand it deserves.

As for the fender. It looks like ASS. I never wanted a fender to start with (except maybe a minimalist one) and the massive fork brace does the job just fine.

Keepin it clean.

On a another note. I test fitted the carbs today. Almost past my procrastination to start the electrical too!

Now I just gotta find those damn tiny screws that hold the velocity stacks in place! I'd hate to have to order another set from Steel Dragon...maybe I can find some at the local hardware store?

Installed the Pamco ignition and the new coils. I know some folks have had issues with clearance with the high performance coils and to be honest this is the first time I've used them so not 100% sure I did it right either...lol. I think it'll be fine though. Will post pics later. Going to start the wiring. Still working on an elctrical box mod... The pamco went in fine, but its got extra wiring like 6 leads vs the original 2 so....?

I had issues with the tappet covers you have on there once the tank was installed.
They were just too close for comfort and were dripping oil from the flat seals.

They are now sitting on top of my toolbox looking for a home.

I eventually swapped them out for brand new ones ordered from Honda. They still sell them as well as the o-rings for underneath. I think it was not that expensive for 8 and 8 o-rings....something to think about.

Yeah.. I was noticing the rubber washers on those tappets are kinda "meh" I may replace them or get new ones..Still a long way off from completion, but getting there...I added the chain this week. Still on the look out for a good oil cooler. thinking about getting this too:

Its the Cycle X one... kinda Generic. I see them on Ebay quite often, but at least I know (or at least I hope so) this one will fit.
I just don;t feel like modding one off another bike or kit.

Looking at different coolers too...

Here's the chain:

You can source one from Earl's. check their website and then troll eBay for the lowest price for the model you want. They make them for cars and motorcycles so check against the dimensions of where you want it mounted on the frame.

Couldn't find "Earl's" sure what it is really... Looks like a friend might be hooking me up with all the parts I need. I just sent him a bunch of JDM parts for a 71 cb750! Hope he puts them to good use. Some of those parts will look great with a little cleaning up.

ok great. Now I just need to figure out what the difference is between the 6an and 8an connections and what height a 3.05 nom is supposed to be? I'm guesing that's in inches and nom is nominal... 6an and 8an are obviously size of the connection, but what size hose does each take?

-6 is 3/8" and -8 is 1/2", both on hose and fitting sizes.

OK.. before you say anything...I haven't decided for sure, but thinking about swapping out the drag bars for a set of these:

I may have a set made with about a 2" rise and a 4" pullback and powdercoat them in white.

CRAP! crap crap crap... I was replacing my old speedo cable and I noticed some fluid...slimy clear fluid at the bottom of my fork tube. No a lot just some residu...so I checked my other fork tube and ...same thing..
Looks like I'm leakin.. Any easy fix for this?It doesn't appear to be dripping ...just "seeping" ? do I need to replace my fork lowers or maybe an oring on each bolt could fix it?

dammit dammit dammit ...

If you haven't replaced your fork seals mate, do so, it's not a hard job, and the last thing you want is fork oil running onto your brake pads. (which it will, my latest buy, a Honda CX500 has manky old fork oil right thru the brakes) Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Also there could be some pitting on the tubes that slide through the seals and make a slight leak...........Gary

While it could be, it's not likely anything to do with the lowers themselves. Trace the oil back up to the seals, which reside in the top of the lower legs. That is where its likely coming from. As Terry says, replace those, they're ready.

have you had your forks apart?

Maybe I read that wrong, but I think he's concerned about leaking at the drain bolt site, not from the upper seals.

Could be. The drain bolts have copper sealing washers on them and rarely start leaking without being removed and reinserted with the old washer.

I took it to mean the oil was dripping from the clamp stud nuts. This is common and comes from the seals leaking down the length of the leg, and not out of the studs themselves...usually. Though the appearance is often that its the studs that are leaking.
