SEAT CAME IN!!!! OMFG I love this thing. Nate's workmanship is oustanding and the fit was perfect.
The pictures do not do it justice. I was so excited to get it that I had to mock it up as soon as I pulled it out of the box.

I also spent some time drillin holes in the drum break housing... I matched the spacing to the rear of the cover so it looks off center, but after I placed it back in the wheel it looked just right..I'll post pics of it mounted later.

Need someone to point me in the direction of some new rims. I'm looking for Excels (or recommendations) and I need them in Gloss Black. Would prefer stock sizes, but again...Will take recommendations...) Seems you can go wider.

look for a set of rims off a cb750 auto.  they are alloy and the stock size.
if not i think the GL wheels are also alloy and alittle bigger

excels are going to need to be custom ordered from buchannas and will be $

Thanks for the compliments. I really need to take better pictures in the day time. I was so anxious to try it out I actually made an attempt to sit on it and almost catapulted the tank, bars and seat onto the pavement. That would have sucked...but I didn't so Haha!

as for the wheels. I'm looking at these:
http://www.tbmperformance.com/products/T100-%252d-Excel-Aluminum-Rims-%252d-Shouldered-%28a.k.a.%2C-flanged-or-valenced-rims%29.html

And I've been skulking around the forum (and others) doing searches on sizes and deals, but nothing solid so far. I Definitely want something meatier than Stock. I'm not going retro, but wider front and rear and even entertaining the idea of a dual-sport tire (naaaaah).
Examples:
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/29/393/5381/ITEM/Metzeler-Tourance-Rear-Tire.aspx
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/29/393/19704/ITEM/Michelin-Anakee-2-Adventure-Touring-Rear-Tire.aspx
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/2/29/393/15130/ITEM/Kenda-K761-Dual-Sport-Rear-Tire.aspx
Smarter way to go is just to use the Dunlops like its got already...
http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/3/31/401/9955/ITEM/Dunlop-D404-Metric-Cruiser-Rear-Tire.aspx

Still Bigger would be nice...especially in the rear..I'll keep it smaller width up front.

The tank and seat combo is killer, love that seat. Great job on the rear brake cover. I say listen to what carpy posted on Hondatech forum the man has done a few of these and has some experience with this. Its coming together just wonderfully!

Well, I found a place in town that not only has an oven big enough to powder coat my frame and wheels for cheap...they also do custom frame work, resto and repair etc.
The guy that did my original powder coating was inexpensive, but he acan only do small items and while he's a nice fellow...its great to have a place that can do the custom work, mechanical and the painting in one go.

So...If I don't get the exhaust this week...I'll likely just get my frame and wheels done and move on from there.

wheels from buchanans aren't TOO bad of a deal, all things considered.  you're getting new rims and a set of stainless spokes.  i picked my 18" wheels and spokes up for right about $600 shipped.  not too bad!  i talked to the owner of the company, Kenny Buchanan, for about 30 minutes before deciding on a width and they arrived within a week of my order!

awesome seat though man, VERY nice!!  what color paint is that on the brake hub??  *edit* i should of just searched instead of being lazy.  i see it's cast iron, thanks!

PICS UPDATE!!
« Reply #84 on: February 22, 2011, 08:34:07 PM »
I'm sticking w/ the Stock Rims and going with Dunlops. I just got back from a friend's house where I honed some holes in my sprocket cover and rear drum break cover and what a difference it makes!

Also, I was over at a new place today to get my powder coating done. The place is called Rock & Ride Motorcycles (name pending?). They just started up recently and the proprietor (Tom) was very knowledgeable and helpful. They are extremely reasonably priced as well. He's hooking me up w/ a new stock rear rim (mine had a dent) and a front fender brace (mine was a mess). I'm getting the frame, hubs, rims and kickstand done up in black like the rest of my PD'd stuff.

Here's a few pics. The frame in the images is another cb750 frame that was already done that he presented to me as an example of their work.

I also built a small aluminum battery box/case to take up the space where the old battery was located since I'm going w/ a lithium-ion.

Lastly, I added some new tappet covers and a small breather/filter (to add some color)...Trust me, it will make sense when the bike is all put together.

I had some close up images of the frame, but my camera phone couldn't get them in focus...meh.

Wow, a bulletproof battery tray!
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

Hopefully should have the frame & rims powder coated and some new Dunlops and spokes mounted on the bike by next week.

NExt in line is Wire loom, Li-Ion battery, and thinking of going dual headlight, but I'll likely just stick w/ a single for now (not exactly crucial.)

Well Black would be in keeping with the over all theme, however Red would really pop and make for nice accent color. So...

Well that's the thing...Will the preloaders fit my k5 Forks ok?

The more I think about it...The more Red looks like the winner...Especially that center Triple tree mount...My trips are black...so it will stand out more.

Was thinking of picking up this kit just to do a hotswap every once in a while...

thats a good price. I have clubmans on mine, but thinking about going to something a little less severe for longer trips.
