Its funny ...I just did a whole post reply on why I DIDN't use Clubmans...and it made me remember I'm not going to use 'em! ;D

The grips were from Monster...??? I forgot the actual website. They are ..called...uhm....Pro something Gel grips.

I'll search around for it...my memory is dumb right now :P :-\
Thanks for the tip, I found it coincidentally in another thread referencing MonsterParts.

Unfortunately they don't have black and gold. But black and gray is neutral and they look very comfortable and sporty.

Dime City Cycles has a pair that are VERY similar (in fact -the same) and solid black (not color slots).
...and cheap too.
http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-progrip-717-pro-street-gel-grips-black-19-7171.html

I almost bought a set of these as well:

http://www.dimecitycycles.com/vintage-cafe-racer-caferacer-bobber-brat-chopper-custom-motorcycle-nickel-brass-race-grips-1110-begrips.html

I couldn't tell from the picks if the"nickel" finish was reall THAT silver or more "tarnished" like old brass.

Too be honest...I think they ARE silver and I'm still considering them. Besides...MY GF likes em better...lol.

You know..I read a thread where they thought the fork seals were in backwards and then start F$%king around w/ mine and called a few places (Cycle X) and they said it goes the "other" way...Which is how I had them to start...sooooo....

Maybe it doesn't really mean Sh4#$ WHICH way you put them?

If they leak just pull them out and try it the other way right? oh well....

I pretty much just "Eye-balled" it. I started w/ a pencil..got tired of marking, grabbed a sharpie marker and a rubber Android phone protector I had punched a hole pattern in for my girlfriend's phone. and dotted every other hole. I did it fast and nasty and then I grabbed my trusty drill took a deep breath and proceeded to ignore where the dots were and guessed at the spacing on the first diamond pattern. It looked decent enough. So I sanded all the markings off and kinda just started judging the distances by sight. I drilled where I did in the pattern i did to intentionally miss where the thicker parts of the pieces were. I dunno how other people get so many damn holes in there stuff?!    If I had it to do over again I would have spent more time marking than drilling and guessing.  I hit a tiny part of a thick section on the drum break housing...Oh well. I also "skipped" the tip of the drill on one of the holes on it as well.
When I honed all the holes it kinda "smoothed" out mu mistake a little....Also..I really like how the honed edges look. I did all of those w/ a honing bit on a drill press and I kinda just lifted the parts to the bit with mi hands and did it by sight and "feel" I guess.
I've pretty much out this bike together using "The Force" if you will, but that only gets you so far. I'm an artist and also CS/MSIT guy so I'm kind "split down the middle" mentally on this stuff. I tend to make detailed, fool-proof plans which I later tend to ignore and go w/ instinct. Hope that helps and sorry if it doesn't.

This is the kinda stuff I do for fun when not building this bike:

NOOO000ooo!!!  Just some stuff I doodled on a donut bag w/ a bic pen once...then I scanned it and added sepia tone in photoshop for kicks.

You should see how many tech update files I have at work with sketches on the back of them of my bike! LOL  everything from profiles of the bike w/ dif tanks, seats wheels to 3/4 views of the engine and details on the layout of what bars & gauges I want to use.

Good thing I don't have to turn any of them in!

Re: 1975 CB750 K5 - OIL FILTER OPTIONS
« Reply #112 on: March 11, 2011, 02:06:25 PM »
OK...
Numerous oil filter options...Which is most practical/money vs  ease of use vs look and function:

Option 1: from cb750supply.com $16.00 - looks "ok" and is low profile, but requires replacement of whole unit every time change is needed.

Option 2: from http://casketfactorycustoms.com/cfc-store/cb750-oil-filter-adapter/  $45 shipped. Certainly looks easy enough to use. Pretty self explanatory.

Option 3:
You tell me.

i would go with option 2 as you can paint oil filters to match whatever you want. also have you considered a spin on adapter that you can put an oil cooler on? im a fan of the original oil filter but they are kinda pricey at my local dealer

Its a pain and one of the fins is broken.

That said...easy enough to replace. $$$ wise that is.

I just like the spin-ons.
Also, I've been debating getting the Smooth Fork tube caps that casket makes too...just for a change in the look.

I HAD wanted the preload adjusters, but they have been just such a pain getting and expense isn't worth it.

ive thought about those fork caps when I get new tubes. I wonder if I brough back some coins from europe if they would stick those in there?

I'll ask.

Is that a airbox replacement? looks nice.

I like option three for the oil filter. What do you use to cover the filter though?

LOL! I 'm guessing you mean option 2? hehe...well, technically you don't have to cover the oil filter at all. There are numerous oil filters available from black to red to orange, but This is really a kind of temporary thing (maybe?) til I decide if I want to do a remote filter or an oil cooler of some kind.

But if you ABSOLUTELY need to cover it there appear to be a lot of options online. Most (like all things Harley_Accessories) are stupid expensive and not worth the crap they are made from...Just over priced. I don't mean the bikes themselves...just the junk people stick on them made in China that costs 3 cents to make and a $300 to buy.

Examples:

$96.00

$55.00

yeah sorry, I was replying to the text in the reply inline window.

The spin on filter adapter seems convenient, but the price for the cover seems ridiculous. At that price I would rather just get the one thats all thrown away each time you change the oil. That one comes with the filter inside I assume. Also, I'm a cheapskate.

If it were me, I would just wait for the relocation kit. Those make the bike look fancy.
