Topic: Oil passage leak?

So the past couple days i have noticed oil leaking onto my exhaust pipes couldnt pin point the source till today.  It is the bolt underneath the points cover. Im not sure what my next step is here.  I'm reading people are ripping apart the heads and everything else.  What exactlly do I have to do, to fix the leak.  I don't race it and would rather not do the oil bypass.  Not even exactlly sure what that does.  Any help would really be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

You didn't state what bike your talking about . If its a 750 under the points cover is probably one of the main crank bearing bolts . There are 10 of them from the points side to the alternator side spaced roughly 2 " apart . When the 2 crank case halves get joined together there is supposed to be a little sealant there to prevent leaks around the bolt . The bolt could be loose or the seal might have failed . These bolts require a torque wrench for tightening . 16.6-18.1 ft-lbs For the 8mm bolts only . You could try just re tightening the bolt or even adding some non hardening sealant between the bolt head and washer , and between the washer and the case . Clean all parts well with a solvent first .

Agh sorry about that,it's actually on a 76 550f. And the bolt is a 14mm I beleive and I only see 1 of them down there. It's actually on the lowest point of the bike. Right behind the bolt  is another bolt that holds the motor to the frame. If that makes any sense.

If so it might just be the o-ring #12 or it could just be loose . There are two of them and they are just plugs .
