Topic: K7-K8 TANK Hold Down...ideas

Hello Guys.... when I picked up the bike there was nothing to Undo to remove the tank...simply lifted the seat and lifted the tank off a rear rubber and the two rubber frame nubs in the front.

It doesn't seem there is anything OEM "bolting" the tank down in the rear??

As my new cafe seat wont help hold the tank down like the oem seat did....I'm looking for ideas or what other people have done?

The rear mount slides into the rear rubber(you have to pull back the top of the rubber to get it to slide over the tongue on the tank).
I can post a picture later today when I pick up my tank.

Oh excellent! So it "DOES" actaully hold the tank down...I'd love a picture if you could... I didn't realize there was a tongue on the tank...COOL (I don't think the PO did either)

Well it holds it down provided it is not torn! But even if it is, you should still be able to get a new one. I did a few years ago, probably less than 5. I still see them on ebay and in many cases that means honda still sells them.

AHhh yess... I'll have to take a good look at that tonight, she was so easy, that there's a good chance she was ripped when I first tore her tank off... I used to tear lot'sa rubbers back in the day!...ahah  JOKES.      Cool guys! Thanks a lot!!!

I think the seat does stabilize the tank alittle as well.
