CB250RS help
« on: September 06, 2010, 08:03:44 PM »
My restored CB250RS is normally perfect. But today it got very sick. I rode off for work and forgot to turn the fuel tap on, again. Nothing unusual. But after that it died. Wouldn't start again. Finally check the spark OK. Fuel flow OK. Drained the carb OK. What the? Finally kicked into life (and it's normally first go) and it sounded real bad. Like a 2 stroke, no revs,
lots of smoke and one unhappy bike. What does the Forum reckon? I'm really hoping it's not a major mechanical issue like
a valve or head problem. Appreciated any feedback as it's a great little bike. Thanks. (PS. If you don't know the CB250RS,
it's an 80's Honda factory road bike with XL250 motor. Nice.)

Try another plug first, just cos it sparks outside the cylinder dont mean it will inside, leaving fuel tap off should not have hurt anything mechanical
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).
