Question on fitment
« on: September 01, 2010, 03:50:11 PM »
Will the 4-1 headers made for the 77-78 K models fit the earlier Ks, 70-76. Seems like the adds always say 77-78 only. What's the difference?

the biggest difference i know of is,on the 70 to roughly 74 models, the exhaust mounted onto a spigot arrangement, after that they mounted on with flanges that bolted to the head.now on the 77-78 k`s im not sure why they are different.

I heard here that the 77-78 are longer than the earlier models, about an inch or so.

The rear mounts may be a little different too, I wouldn't expect them to line up with the rear peg mounts on the earlier frames.
This isn't a showstopper though, with a little immagination any of us can fab up some sort of a bracket to make one work.
