Someone could sit on my back deck and pick off Deer all night. Only bowhunting is allowed and few have the skill to do it. More get hit by cars than are killed by hunters. We are infested with them. If I have to leave real early in the morning I walk by a herd of them in the front yard, they just look at me.

Here in Mich., years ago, the various county road commissions had workers go around and pick up dear carcasses after unfortunate encounters with autos. Now they just pull them off the road if they interfere with traffic, and just let nature take care of what's left. Dust to dust, ashes to ashes and such.  ;)

MAN!!! I wish we had deer like that around here!!!

Actually, you really don't.  As noted in other posts, I see at least one dead on the road nearly every single day.
(When I moved out here I wondered why all the trucks had "brush guards" installed on the front....)

They're dumber than cows too.
Also, there is virtually nothing they won't eat.  They'll eat plants that even goats won't eat.
My neighbor spent about 30K last year fencing in his yard so his wife could have a flower garden...   ::)
(I think he was worried about zombies too..)

My wife hired  "Stephano' a landcape specialist to redo all the landacaping in the front. He used deer proof bushes and plants, three years and so far so good.

It's bow season here in VA but I don't have a bow yet so I've got a few weeks till rifle season kicks in.  Since my father-in-law is a real archery buff the wife is going to see if is is selling any of his (he has at least a dozen nice set-ups) for cheap-ish.  In my county I can't use the .270 I bought last year and don't have any local friends with land any more so I'll be heading out to public lands this year.  I just hope I make it back alive...  By next year I should be taking them off the front porch with the nice swwwwuuuuuuttttt of an arrow.

The only thing I've found they won't eat here is rosemary and juniper....
Lemme see if i can remember, I do remeber the bill  ;D

Sweetbox
Barberry
Japaneese maple
Holly
Juniper

There are more I better take a picture or ask the old lady. Nothing has been eaten.

oleander is no good if you have pets or kids, it is highly toxic and one leaf chewed by a kid is enough to kill. My dog was chewing on a long dead oleander branch and it almost killed him, he was very ill for months.

Some of the gated communities here are anti hunting but they hate the damage they do. Eventually every few years Bowhunters are enlisted to cull the herd. There were Bumper stickers saying "Save the Sea Pines Deer". Someone was placing an Eat sticker over save. It was funny.

The next time you are in Southeast Pennsylvania, go to Valley Forge Park.  You can practically walk across the backs of deer, especially at night.  I didn't get any pics since I was driving, but there was a massive 10-12 pointer right on the side of the road.  To put it another way, there have been several deer-bike collisions in the park.  I'm talking bicycle here.  They are thick and since they live on National Park land, there's no hunting them.

The first one looks like good eating. The second one has some age I think. If you get a photo of a Chuppacabra I believe they fetch good $$$.Unlike Zombies and such. I just thawed some backstrap for tommorows lunch. Sweet thai sauce marinated, grilled with shoestring fried sweet potatoes. Side salad!

Headed out for a run in the Dogtown section of the island yesterday and came across a couple of guys that had bagged a deer and were dragging it out of the woods not more than 200 yards from the start of the trail. My dog was most intrigued...he'd chased them but never before seen one close up and personal...and dead...and freshly gutted. I'm in the woods all year and wear safety orange or something else bright during hunting season...same goes for the dog.

Generally here in northeast MA there are too many deer due to protection of "wildlife" and the fact that they no longer have natural predators. I don't hunt but I do shoot..sometimes I say to myself...hmmmmm...that looks like dinner to me...like a winter's worth of dinner. ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D

I have only 'shot' deer with a camera, but almost ran one over on the first day of hunting
season a few miles from my house. I wonder if I could have kept it if I had hit it.

Then I'd have to buy a freezer.

Just sighted in my 30-30 this evening.  Heading out with Fabricator on Friday to see if we can't get a couple more deer this year.
