Normal operating temperature????
« on: July 29, 2011, 08:00:13 PM »
I am trying to adjust my idle by moving the carb screw inwards... According to the manual, pg 53, it states to do this once the bike is at operating temperature... Idiot question , but how long does this usually take, that is to get the bike at normal operating temperature? I am taking it on a 70 miles trek tomorrow to school and leaving 2 hours prior incase I have any issues with the drive.. Temps should be around 70 in the morning...

Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes or so, unless it is running lean.

Normal operating temperature is ' DAMN HOT"  ;)
The crankcase will be around 180~220 degrees F when it's fully up to temp, the head and cylinder quite a bit warmer.

SO should I place my finger on the crankcase and see if it does not blister within a few minutes?
If it does not blister repeat step one until it does????

Just kidding bout the finger.. THanks guys.. I will drive her for about 20 minutes pull over then set play with the carb screw...
