Rubber bayonet bulb holders
« on: September 02, 2010, 08:15:53 PM »
Hi
Does anyone have any idea where to source these rubber bayonet bulb holders for the Tacho and Speedo lights and the idiot light panel. (preferably in Australia, but any suggestions gratefully accepted).

All the ones I have are totally knackered, as the rubber has rotted away and just left the internal metal bulb holder.

I have searched any number of auto parts suppliers and electronics suppliers but they seem to be a thing of the past. Also looked at vintageconnections.com but they dont have them either.

Help

I think you are stuck with genuine Honda for those
Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

Bump

Genuine Honda would mean buying part of the wiring loom. Really I just need to renew the holders so they are watertight and stay in place.
Any other suggestions?

You dont have to buy a loom but you do have to buy a speedo or tacho!!!! try wrapping the holder, but not the bulb, in insulating tape

Or a short pice of shrink wrap where the bulb holder seats in the instrument housing...?
