78 Intake Boots vs. 75 Intake Boots?
« on: January 04, 2007, 12:57:38 PM »
Due to a potential solution for another problem I may have (vacuum leak), I started doing a bit of research on intake boots.

I called my local Honda Dealer and they can get the boots. The question is which set to get.

I have a 78K motor and carbs off a 75K.

16211300030 INSULATOR,A.CARB
16212300030 INSULATOR,B.CARB

When I looked up the part numbers, I found that the 75 boots were 2 different part numbers for 1-4 and 2-3. No problem there. That is the setup that I have now.

The 78 boots however were 4 different part numbers.

16211405000 INSULATOR 1,CARB.
16212405000 INSULATOR 2,CARB.
16213405000 INSULATOR 3,CARB.
16214405000 INSULATOR 4,CARB.

The ones for the 78 look completely different. Is this due to the updated carbs?

Cool.

Thanks, Duster.

I hope he sees this and gives it his input.

The 75 boots will fit both the carbs and your '78 motor. The '78 carbs are larger diameter, as Duster' points out, so the '78 boots are larger on the carb side, but the intake manifolds on the '78 K engine/head are the same size as a '75 engine.

Not sure why there are 4 different part #'s for the '78 boots. The ones I have(78 F) are two types, 1&4 or 2&3, just like the setup you have now.

Give me..a frame to build a bike on, and my imagination will build upon that frame

Ramen noodles are great. 17ยข per meal from King Soopers (Krogers, etc) this week still allows for cheap beer and motorcycle parts too!
