Good post Rob. 8)  I'm not sure if it's in here or in my PMs, AndyNZL sent pics of his mates bike that was used in the film. When you saw the motor in the film, it was the Indian.
When covered by the streamlining and seen running, it was a Ducati V twin motor.
I'll look through some PMs for it but it was a few years back, I've not heard from Andy in quite a while.

So cool, thanks for posting Robert. I've seen the movie and have it in a curio cabinet, with my Indian diecasts and my Dad has the movie as well. Great movie at that AND VERY inspiring. ;)

So is this a later revision of the streamliner body?  I'm used to seeing the one in the movie, which looks to have a shorter nose, no ram intake on the front, and a different empennage arrangement.  Any hardcore Burt fans out there to educate us about bodywork designs?  Everyone seems to focus on his engine mods but there's a lot going on with that body, aerodynamically.

The first pic should be the real one, but it was probably never that nice in Burts lifetime.. as you can see in the last pics..pre-restoration.. I think it was restored by Hensley, while he was in a wheelchair..

The green bordered large pic was taken by Richard Menzies of SLC, in maybe 67. He started selling the prints a few years ago, I got the first ones in Canada. One of them went to a Kiwi that used to be in my shop, and when he was at Bonneville, he met Menzies and got to chat with him a bit.

This is what I'm used to seeing, I believe it to be real also, since Burt is standing there with it.  Its in the same article as the pic in the opening post.

Note subtle differences.

I just walked in the door from Bonneville.. attended the SCTA's Speedweek...  Great time... but after running in Maine earlier in the month all I want is to be HOME....

There was a really large Kiwi contingent this year... one of my good friends showed up with this 32 from down under and blew it up on the first pass.... sad...but the way it goes...

"Will the real Burt Munro bike please stand up?" Bloody hell, I hope that Pebble Beach thing isn't the real deal, it looks like a factory built "retro". ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

See the pic of Burt and how flat the paint is? He probaly brush-painted it beside the Lemon tree..

I think the hole in the front is a mod in the late period he ran it, it was constantly evolving, he tried many things.. dont alway hear about what dont work... ;)

If that's a fuel tank aft of the seating position, the fuel line looks like 1" diameter. Leads me to wondering how much fuel a bike like that would use on a couple of passes? How far does one go each way, 10 miles?

Nah, that's just heavy duty thick walled automotive fuel line mate, I've got some hanging up in my garage. Probably 5/16" or 3/8" ID and 9/16" OD. Cheers, Terry. ;D
