so my friend wants to go to abate labor day party with me he got his new harley so he feels the need to strut like a peacock. as we are going down the road doing about 65mph i slow down to make a turn which happened all of a sudden and there he is right on my back side. what is it with riders that they have to ride right on you in your blind spot. so i try swerving in the lane on the way there it helps a little. he is starting to back off. so then when we get to final spot i find a nice parking spot which will fit 2 bikes very nice with lots of room. (so you think). i back in then he tries it it, takes him 5 times then when he puts his kickstand down the bike leans right into my mirror. so we ride around after that crap. i pull into a parking stall he has to park right next to me. i pull up a little he pulls up a little i go back he goes back. so right now i'm thinking people aregoing to think we are a couple  or something. i try to make a coment about it then he gets a attitude.thats my rant ha sanybody else had this problem with fellow riders.

What can I say, a lot of Harley riders are closeted butt pirates. ;)

Sorry to hear that. Jamesb. You can always find another person to ride with.

Riding too close is just plain dangerous, I'm not comfortable with it either.

One tip on parking though, if you're the first one to park stay to the right and get your bike leaned over on the sidestand before the next bike pulls in.

I hate riding with others for reasons like this. My buddy took out the mirror on my CB450 by parking too close and leaning his bars into mine.

That's why when my friend and I both ride into work we park next to each other, but in separate parking spots. We trust each others parking, just no need to risk it if you don't have to.

Next time when he parks too close, when you get off or back on your bike swing your leg over and "accidentally" give his bike a good kick with your boot.  Then say "Oops! I guess we shouldn't park so close to each other from now on." ;)

Reminds me of an experience I had. A sister in-law knocked my brothers bike over on to mine. Kinda like in the Pee Wee's big adventure except just two bikes. Hard to smile for a while after that. The bike out lasted her though.

So when are you two going to get your matching back patches with matching rockers on matching vests?   ;D

I ride alone for the most part.  If not alone, it's with my Dad or my girlfriend.  So I never really had this problem, but I'm sure it'll happen sooner or later.  I would just say something about the dangers of riding and parking too close.

yeah! i don't think that's going to happen. it's funny that you mentioned the vest he said i should get one it helps with bugs and keeps your shirt from flying up. the bug thing i don't get. cuz your gonna get smacked with them regardless. plus I'm not into the vest thing, not my style.I'm a jeans and t-shirt person. unfortunately i grew up around a motorcycle club my dad was president in. and the new bikers style just isn't for me especially all the leather it reminds me of the blue oyster scene in police academy. i'm used to old blue jeans and t-shirts.i was amazed of the style of bikers that where at abate. a lot of them looked like they should be playing in poison or motley crue it was rather embarassing.thanks for all the suggestions too i received from all of you. i like the one about kicking the bike when dismounting i think i will try that one.

I had a mate years ago that used to ride too close to me,after talking to him about it he decided to ride behind me,once again too close,i braked to enter a left hand corner while he was day dreaming and he ran into my rear wheel, frightened the hell out of me but i managed to keep it shiny side up, he trashed his 500/4....you just can't tell some people...

Most of the people I ride with are good riders, ie, don't tail gate etc etc.

Guess I'm the luck one.

Finally, I win something.  ;D

Your friend want a matching vest?  I think he has low self-esteem.  Probably worries more about how he looks. Did he buy a Harley because of this ad?
