Topic: My cafe project progress

I started this project with a stock 73 cb750:



Most of the design relies on Benji's body parts, including fork covers, headlight bracket, round tailsection and Trixie exhaust:

I've upgraded to 29mm Keihin carbs, Dyna electronic ignition and some Dunlop K-70s. I'm using a Cycle X top tree with xs650 gauges in a relocated ignition cluster with clip on handlebars:



Now that the rear end is back on the bike, I'll be installing the Trixie 4 into 4 exhaust:



Simple flush mount taillight in the rear seat cowl (3/4 view):



Micro LEDs for signals, flush mounted to headlight bucket and rear frame:



Paint will be dark gray candy over small silver flake with darker/black shading into knee cutouts and the bottom of the seat and tank which will have these emblems:



Still working on a cable activated remote master cylinder for front brake. Still debating between stock switches or simpler custom aftermarket ones.

I'll post further photos as things progress.

Dolphin tank and seat with the cowling extended in the rear and inch or two.

Well they aren't working yet because I still haven't reassembled the wiring loom and hooked up cables, but I'm always curious when someone italicizes their words on bike forums. Is there something specific you had in mind?

sweet bike... the speedo from the xs650 shares the same ratio, but it appears the tach does not. 750 is 4:1, quick google turned up the xs as 5:1...

90 degree angle drives to allow for fitment of both gauges:



One unit is 1:1, the other made to accomodate 4:1 to 5:1 gearing.

I'm intrigued, where did you find the angle adapters?

Like most here, I'm always looking for parts interchanges that actually work. I was intrigued as to how you were going to reconcile the ratios, but it looks like this thread has turned up a really interesting solution. The XS650 gauges look much better than the "pie pan" CB750 clocks.  RR

Sorry about the lack of response. I'm planning on holding onto most of the things I took off because right now until I have the bike complete and running, I can't think about what I have left to sell. I'll use this thread as a guide as to who asked for what first if that's ok.

What kind of levers and bar controls are you using?

Levers- standard cable levers for brake and clutch. Front brake setup includes a remotely located master cylinder.
Controls: ebay motocross controls, left controls lights (hi-lo), turn signals, horn, kill switch. Right is starter switch.

Bike looks great. I love that seat and tank combo from Benji's but man they are spendy. I would love to have set like that in the alloy flavor.

I know but the alloy was just way too much. Couldn't have afforded the exhaust otherwise.

Could you give more details on what you mean by by "extended"?  Also, any concerns about the rear tire bottoming out on the frame?
