Topic: 550 progress

Here are a few pictures of the progress made so far on my CB550.
It's coming, slow, but I do what I can when I can.
Can anybody on this forum tell me if it is possible to send a side cover to have it restored? One of mine is missing a portion of the bottom and mounting tab and I can't seem to find any for sale.  Or is there a do it yourself method?  I'm handy if it doesn't involve to much.

Looks like a nice project, I bought my 550F a year ago, it was my winter project last year.

Hard to tell, but your bike looks like a 550K model. I don't think the side covers are worth restoring, just buy some, they are out there.

Yes it is a K.
I think that it will turn out okay if buying all the stuff I need doesn't bankrupt me!
Unfortunately the covers on eBay were sold.
Thanks for the tip though. I'll keep checking.

I'm pretty sure these are for a K although they're listed as F.
I have the more triangular ones which are F so I'm assuming these aren't listed accurately?

I actually have this cover.  I don't know how to install it yet as it came with no instructions.  I agree that OEM would be better.

Probably.  There's no CB500F, just the CB500.  If you want to get technical it's a CB500K.  Sounds like you may have fallen prey to the misleading, big, orange "F" in the "500Four" on the sidecovers.

All this time I thought I was reading 550 not 500.
