Cl350 Oil Pressure
« on: September 20, 2010, 08:47:23 AM »
Does anyone know if you can put an oil pressure gauge on a 350 twin?  Or at least is there a prot to check pressure at.  I think my CL is ok, but I want to make sure.  It lost power yesterday in the exact manner just before a seizure, but i got lucky and all now seems fine.

Thanks for the help.

There's no point in an oil pressure gauge, as there is very little real oil pressure generated on these old twins. Just the nature of the beastie.....

On a 350 you can check for top end oiling by loosening the 6mm bolt (10 mm head) just to the right of the point cover. If no oil comes out there with the engine running, you have a problem.

Cool, thanks for the info.  I didn' think there was a place for a gauge, but i thought I'd at least check.  I guess all must be ok, it didn't lock up and I rode it again this morning.

Thanks

Well, I suppose you could rig a place for a gauge, but there's nothing to measure - these bikes don't really produce any oil pressure to speak of, not how they work........
