'76 750K Barn find that found me.
« on: September 08, 2010, 04:09:46 PM »
Back in May I got a call for a guy, who got my number from one of the local shops, asking if I wanted to buy a CB750 that had been sitting outside for 10 years.  Being unemployed at the time and having nine other bikes in the garage, i wasn't too excited to go look at it.  He called me back the next day and said he really needed it gone from his yard.  I agreed to go take a look that night thinking the worst.  When I got there I was surprised to see it wasn't in too bad of shape.  He explained how he would kick over the engine every couple of months and wash it every year since his kid liked to play and draw on it.  ???  Came down to the price and he said $50 with a clean title, inside the tank is old gas but no rust, no dents, just the seat really showing any signs of damage.

As you can see I took it home that night where it sat in my back yard until today.  I took off the wind jammer and sissy bar.  Looked over a few things, drained the gas from the carbs.  Cranks over good with no spark.  Guess I will play with that later after I make some room in the shop.  But for now it at least looks cool again. (except for the crash bar)

Wow! Not bad for sitting out as long as the PO stated. Kinda looks like member (UnCrash)'s old bike.

Nice! Yet another member that found a sweet a$$ deal and made me look like an idiot for paying what I paid for mine.  ;D Seriously though, awesome find.

The exhaust is alone worth what you paid for it.

Nice score.

Yes, nice find there. Heck, get that rusty crash bar off there, add the front blinkers and get a seat (possibly still available from Honda) and she is good to go. Bet she'll fire right up if you prepare it proper. Good luck with it. That will look mighty fine and you will get plenty of envious looks on that K6. It will be great if there was no gas in the carbs for those 10 years she sat outside. Have fun with it and keep us informed on your plans. Great to see another save here.

From one K6 owner to another, way to go watson. What a great find and a great price. I wish I could be that lucky. And by the way you can still get the factory Honda seat. I got mine from ServiceHonda. Part #77200-341-701. I paid $250 for mine including shipping, but this was about 5 months ago. I really like my K6 and I'm sure you will also. Good Luck ;D

$250 is a good deal for a new OEM seat, but that's 5 times what he paid for the bike!!

And I have to admit those Honda seats are still pretty darn comfortable. Bought one for my K1 & K4 and they feel good.

I agree with you Johnie, I was surprised with the Honda seat didn't think it would be that comfortable. And it looks so much better on my K6 than the Mustang seat the PO had put on it. I feel like the $250 I spent on it was worth it.

Nice score!

What are your plans for the bike?

I am planning on updating the front end, I have a few in stock.  Also do the rear wheel to match whatever front end I put on.
Cafe for sure on the overall look.  I also have a vintage Reed Titan upper fairing I wouldn't mind seeing on something someday, it might just find it's way on there.  ;)

Over the past couple of days I have been thinking about what to do to this bike since my last post.  I think I may keep this one all original and update my '78's suspension and wheels since it is already kind of custom and I really like the way this bike looks stock.  Time will tell.

I like the way you think Watson. These old 750's look great in stock trim. The design and styling is over 40 years old and so much as changed in motorcycling in that time, but in my opinion when still in stock mode they still look better than most bikes on the road today. Save a classic and keep it stock ;) ;) ;)

What part of the country are you that they're giving away nice CBs? Like mentioned above I feel like an idiot for paying $900 for my 550K in the condition it was in.
