1976 cb750A and 1973 cb750- interchangeable parts?
« on: September 11, 2010, 01:46:15 PM »
I just got a 73 750 that I'm going to be rebuilding. I have a shot at a 76 750A for a donor bike for nearly nothing. Are there more differences than the transmissions? Would I get a lot of compatibility from frame and engine and carbs? Thanks for the help...

Not very many things are the same between the A and the other 750s. The frame, seat, carbs, forks, wheels, transmission and bottom half of the engine are all different. The cylinders, pistons and head from a K are close enough to interchange. Hope this helps.

The carbs are different, smaller, and the pistons have less compression along with the other differences. Look for another K.

Get the A, sell it here for a modest profit, or use it for trading material.

Thanks for the input. I thought about going ahead and getting the A for another project or turning over- jury is still out. The 73 is going to be a heck of a project in itself. To crowd things a bit more, I have a 74 350 that I still haven't finished in the shop (which is too small to begin with!)
The main things I think the 73 is going to need replaced are the top end and pistons and the forks. Electrical. All that good stuff.

Thanks again for the input.
