Thanks, I am digging the seat too. I dont have my tank because its getting cleaned but will post some pics of it mounted with the seat. Just to let you know, I am sure New Church Moto can hook you up with a seat if you want to deal with the shipping process.

OK, this might be a stupid question (I know, there are no stupid questions, only stupid people that ask questions) but...how is the seat attached to the pan, and pan to the bike.
Oh yeah, seat looks good.

Actually thats a good question! The fiberglass seat cowl is attached to the frame in two places. The front portion of the seat via a carriage bolt that slides through one of the battery box mount bolts that I drilled out. The rear portion is a bit tricky. I fabricated a bracket out of 2024 T3 aluminum and attached it to the cowl with 1422 B1/2 aircraft sealant, the bracket then bolts to the rear cross brace on the frame. Its a rock solid mount. For the seat pan I fabricated a section of 2024 T3 aluminum to the shape of the seat cowl and it mounts to the cowl via three blind fastners called Hi Lok fastners. They are used in certain areas in assembling aircraft components and work perfect for this application.

Hope this answers your question. I could snap a few pictures if you like......

Here are some pictures of my seat mounting.

Here is a shot of the Hi Lok fastners I used. You hold the threaded end with an allen wrench to tighten the nut and keep the bolt from spinning. When installing the bolts, you want to drill the hole the perfect size so they are pressed in and wont fall out.

Here is a shot of the forward mount. I drilled out the threaded portion of the battery tray and just secured it with pop rivits.

Here is a shot of the aft mount to the frame. I spaced down the inner rear fender because the seat cowl hit.

Here is a shot of the rear bracket I made. Its secured to the cowl with aircraft sealant and bolts to the frame.

This is my first/prototype rear mount I made just to get the sizing and shape down. The final product was made out of the good stuff and rolled on a sheet metal roller.

The front of the cowl mounts to the frame with the carriage bolt through the drilled out battery tray.

Mounting the cowl to the frame

Here is the carriage bolt through the frame. I attach it with a lock washer and a wing nut.

Shots of my seat pan to cowl and how its secured

Wiring DONE....well except for the most important part. TESTING.

More update from my build. I finally got around to testing my electrical out. After a few small issues everything is working PERFECT. Pretty stoked that I have that wrapped up. I prefer turning wrenches to wiring diagrams.

My tank, tail section, and side covers are in Spokane with Larry at Meticulous Paint and he has began the transformation. I will post some pics of the progress as he emails me pics. So far my experience with Larry has been top notch. He responds to email VERY quick and has been great at keeping me in the loop with progress and pictures. He is really patient with my hundreds of emails asking for his opinions and suggestions.

My head and jugs just got back from Cycle X. I just need to paint them up and I will be ready for the install. I am pretty happy with the results and quality of the work. I have had great service from Cycle X and dealing with Jake and Ken has been great. Ken has really gone out of his way to HOOK me up and I am greatful for that. I am waiting on my Webcam 63A and adjustable cam sprocket and I should be done waiting and saving up for engine parts! Thank goodness for that. This engine has drained my pockets.

Cycle X F2 heavy duty springs, valves, retainers... the works!

Here are a few pictures of my 836 pistons next to the stock ones

this is one hell of a build.I am jealous of the deep pockets a lot of you have to do these things.I am sick of the oil prob I keep having and am ready to drop some cash to Ken at cycle X.Cant wait to see this finished. When it is you better go have a celebratory beer and I will drive down from Bellingham to buy it for you.Cheers.Wait,not yet.

Thanks Bart. I am down for a beer for sure! I would like to see your bike as well. As far as budget goes I have gone seriously blown it! I get sick when I start totaling reciepts in my head. I figured $4000 or $5000 when I started...... yea right.

I read your post about the oil issue. I would not give up yet. I am sure its something that can be fixed with a day of wrenching.

Very optimistic.I love my bike and have been going back and forth about getting a modern bike, but I know I will regret it.I Everytime I go out with my buddies with their fancy(BMW,Ducati ,NEW)bikes,my bike gets more attention than any of theirs ;Dand they always comment on it.Projects like yours make me want to keep it.

Thank you for posting these pictures!!  I see Ken put the new sleeves in your head to solve the issue we came across with my F build.  Those bronze sleeves close off the studs from the atmosphere so the stud isn't open and visible through the fins.  I am going to get another head to port/polish and install the studs.

I will be borrowing the pictures for my thread about the issue.
