Here is the link to my experience.  Which includes a lot of speculation and crap because I was trying to discover the issue at the same time. Toward the end of it I tried to make it more of a repository for the information so people can avoid my mistake/problem. I just added your pictures to the post cause a few guys had been curious about them.  I didn't get my head sleeved but Ken mentioned it to me.

The top end is really beautiful.  Love seeing new parts like that.  Thanks for the kind words on the paint work.  I'm pretty stoked to be the one entrusted with that.  It'll look great when all the elements are combined in a finished product.  It never gets old.   ;D

I went with black engine w/ polished head, clutch and points cover....  but your engine is making me second guess LOL

Your engine looks pretty nice so I wouldnt second guess yourself. I will tell ya though it was almost just as hard deciding on my engine color combo as it was deciding on my tins color! The options are endless.

Those pics were taken after the first round of primer coats.  Still a little rough at that point.  They've been primed and block sanded twice since then, and the parts all look really nice.  They're in the shop now, awaiting the first coats of Viper orange pearl to be sprayed today..mmmmm.   ;D

Here's the tank and tail in the Viper orange base coat.  No clear yet.  I'll start laying out the black racing stripes tomorrow after this has dried overnight.  The side covers are also going to be black with no emblems, and nice old-school Honda wing emblems on the tank.  It's gonna look killer!

Hmmmm... where have I seen another orange super-sport?   ;)

It's coming along Branden.  Be back together before you know it.

Take care,
David

After seeing these pictures today I went back to your thread and was shocked to see how similiar the colors are! Once my black stripes get painted we will be different enough. We will just make sure not to park next to each other.

Nice paint!  Can't wait to see the black paint applied.  I'm a neophyte when it comes to body work.  Did you use "body filler" to fill the emblem voids or is there something else?  I noticed most body fillers say not to fill over 1/8" so wondering if there is something else I should use.  Trying to learn more but there are so many names that seem to be used interchangeably like "Bondo" or "Filler".

Gorgeous! I've got a soft spot for orange and that is a fine specimen. It looks like it will show some real depth once the contrasting stripes and clearcoat are applied.

I would be utterly beside myself at this point...

There's a ton of different body fillers available.  "Bondo" brand is the least expensive, but it's the worst product.  I use Evercoat "Rage Gold".  It's an amazing filler available at auto body paint stores.  More expensive for sure, but it's the best.  Filling an area like the emblem depressions is no problem.  Just make sure the area is really clean of all paint and is sanded with 80 grit really well.  Push it in forcefully with a spatula to get in the tight areas, then use several thin coats to fill the void.  I use a stud gun to pull deeper dents, but you can get away with filling anything up to a 1/4", no problem..just don't try to do it in one coat.   To many people it probably looks like a lot of plastic filler on Branden's tank, but those are all really shallow dings and waves in the metal that filled up beautifully.  That tank is really straight now.

Looks great! I can't wait to see it done, love the orange, great choice. I thought about going with yellow and red but then someone said they'd call me Ronald as in McDonald, killed that idea on the spot.
