Hi Branden,

I wanted to ask you about your air filters, looks like the K&N. Have you had any difficulty tuning with them?
I have my Pegasus bike finished with the Uni filters and it runs rich and stumbles on acceleration and it seams to come down to air flow.
Hondaman tells me I need to switch to the stock airbox perhaps with a K&N filter as these pods are allways the problem for running rich and 1st quarter throttle air flow.

How are these filters working for you?

Actually I haven't ran them yet and they are Dynoman filters not K&N. Also remember I am running CR29 carbs not the stockers. After I get the bike back on the road (VERY soon) I will can answer a bit better. With the stacks and screens I was running before she ran great.

I am also building a 78f right now(at least getting ready to) and was curious as to the wheel tire combo. It looks like you carried over the tires, what size are they and what rim widths did you go with on the spokes? Everything looks great and if some of those rearsets were available I'm sure they would sell like hotcakes.

LOTS of changes since my last update. Finally got the rearsets completed. FunJimmy went above and deyond to design and fabricate rearsets for tweakin and I. THANKS!!!! I was going to have them hard anodized but it was going to cost way to much so I went ahead and had them powdercoated. I also coated my new NOS Dresda swingarm and got that all buttoned up as well as my spoke conversion. I said what the hell and threw some new IKON shocks in the rear since I had new suspension with the GL1000 front end. While everything was apart I painted my CR29 carb bowls and slide covers and added K&N filters replacing the stacks I had. I was never happy with the Chromex on the pipes so it was recoated in Black Velvet satin ceramic. Frankenstuff sent me one of his new ribbed points covers to see if I liked it. I think it looks pretty cool just needs some paint. Now if I could just get some dry weather I could take her out for a shakedown run.
On the way... Black Anodized fork Superbrace, 530 chain conversion with black anodized rear sprocket from Sprocket Specialist and chain from Diamond Chain Co.

Nice job with the rear sets. What ratio did you go to on the 530 chain. I used a 17 front and a 48 rear to tone down the interstate rpm's a bit.

Isn't that a stock ratio? I did the 530 conversion also and I went with the same that my old 630 had. I could be wrong as I'm at work and can't just run out and look.

This is a pic of one of the jets on the #2 carb accelerator pump that needs to be cleaned
A can of carb cleaner with a straw makes a good way to verify it works correctly

This second jet was clogged and would not let any carb cleaner spray through it. A good overnight soak and lots of sprays with the carb cleaner and straw got it working like a champ. It sprays a nice even pattern now.

SHORTENED

Those square brass things you point to are NOT jets.
That square brass plug holds a check ball and spring.
The first one you show is to keep fuel from draining back down into
the accelerator pump chamber.

The bottom photo with the square brass plug is the check ball that can cause the accelerator pump to not work at all if it has corrosion.

I hope that shim you put on the needle was at least .040 thousandths thick.
You did not say how thick it was. Also the washer has to fit into that little recess inside the bottom of the slide or it will be cocked on an angle. Did the washer fit into that recess?

Few new pictures with my completed FunJimmy/Joker rearsets. GL1000 front end rides nice and stable. Feels way different than the stock front end. The bike is about 95% completed (for now). I am still waiting on my Superbrace fork brace. I also need to tune the carbs on the dyno and adjust the fork oil. The 7W oil is a bit light. I am debating Racetech emulators and springs.

Yea the dip at 4.5 is the slide cutout being to rich. Soon to have leaner slides to try and tune it out.

Thats great news B. Nothing like being able to try them out before you have to drop the $$ on new ones.

I think I will hit the Twinline dyno in a couple saturdays from now. I have to go to Portland this weekend but should be able to head up the the next.
