dropped my girl tonight. was heading to a stop sign, slipped on the muni tracks and the bike went under me. bummer. bent the headlight and indicators a smidge. bent them back, seems to be ok other than that. nothing like walking her to the curb while drunken san franciscans at church and duboce laughing at you though.

oh well.

Sorry that happened to you!

Happened to me in Toronto forty years ago on a friend's SOHC 750. Light rain and I managed to cross street car tracks so that one wheel was on each rail. The bike went out from under me in a flash. Bike on it's side on the tracks, me on the ground and the street car coming ringing it's bell "get out of the way stupid biker!". Somehow with the adrenaline rushing (and I was younger then) picked the bike up and pushed it to the curb to recover. Bike was a bit scratched but ok.

I've been very careful of rails in the roadway ever since, raining or not!

Don't feel so bad, man. I had a girl on the back in 82, we were very tanked, and I totally forgot to put my feet down at the traffic lights. We fell down like cards. Funny sight trying lift a heavy 750 at 3am when neither of us could hardly walk or talk, but we sure laughed. And the Honda started straight up. Still got it, and the scratches. Though the girl's long gone. Eh.

Bloody drunken Queenslanders, there should be a law against it! Here in Melbourne, we still have lots of trams (streetcars) so you need to be bloody careful on cold wet winter days, I haven't dropped a bike on the tracks yet, but my best mate did, and smashed both his knees! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Sorry to hear about the spill. Glad it wasn't serious. I used to work in the city and seen plenty of bicyclists go down because of the Muni rails.  It's not fun.
