titles etc...

Hey,
   so i posted earlier, but anyway,  a guy sold me his bike from michigan and wrote up a contact which i assume will serve as a bill of sale or am i wrong?  he has no title.  i live in california.  how do i go about getting a title for this in california now?

call CA DMV, and ask them what paperwork/process is needed to apply for a new title.
they are the ones who would know best.

It's easy. Take the bill of sale to the DMV, fill out an application for title, fill out a statement of facts (how you came to now own the bike),  pay your fees. If you brought the bike with you, the clerk at the DMV will verify the serial number of the engine and frame, leave with new title. If you don't bring the bike with you, go to your local police department and pay a fee (here in Orange they charge $ 50.00) and they will come to your house to verify the serial numbers. You do not need to register the bike at this time but you should at least consider getting it placed in non-op status.
