anyone notice more spiders indoors than usual?  I am.

Yeah, I've noticed more indoors this year, here in AZ, also. Gnarly webs that show up overnight. Benign type spiders mostly, though I've had a couple of close calls with black widows at the shop, spinning webs right where I open the sliding door. Brake cleaner takes care of them pretty quickly!

We've been getting HUGE ones here but they stayed outside....  Until last week when I came home and the lights where off and I walked into a WEB covering my porch steps with 3 of the huge ones on it.... I leave them alone usually... but when they start to trap me that's it!..... No more around my place I spent 40 Min's killing them and de spidering our siding.... Oh and FYI Brown Recluse are native to Michigan as well.  Most definitely not just the southwest.

If you can find some hedge apples, put them around your house. I put them in the corners of my basement and never have spiders down there. Apparently the chemical in the fruit repels spiders and some insects.

Anything that like work to keep away house centipedes?  Incidentally, these will eat spiders and are technically harmless to people so that might be a solution to the spider problem if you like them better.

No problem.  I felt something touching my foot one night while brushing my teeth, looked down and saw one of these beauties, probably an inch and a half in length sitting on top of my foot.  It was big enough that I heard it land with a small thump when I kicked the thing away.

And I'm in your state.  They could be staging for an attack in your basement while you're reading this.  :o

I have not noticed more spiders this year.
When I find them, I trap them and release them outside
while the wife is freaking out.  ;D

We have 5 ponds nearby and lots of dragonflies and praying mantis.

It's so pretty in Vermont at this time of year... :-\
