Honda CB650 (1979) Carbs
« on: March 13, 2006, 10:26:14 AM »
First I'd like to say "thanks for a great forum".

My 650 is in storage since I picked it up last year.
My question is can the carbs be split?  I have someone making me 2 - 2 into 1 intale manifolds (Cheap) and I want to use two of the existing carbs.  I can't afford two new Mikuni 26mm VM carbs, which would be ideal.

Thanks
Peter

Will you have enough fuel delivery available with this set up ?
What happened to the old bank of carbs ?

I guess the carbs coulb be split.  Physically they can,  but you would need configure controls to adjust the choke and butterfly valves equally on the seperated carbs.  Fuel hose feeds should be easy to replace.

Would two of the carbs flow enough  air/fuel, to work ?
     plus fuel,and accel pump feeds etc.{plumbers nightmare}
        It scares me, I think you could even pick up a rack of carbs
     on Ebay for a lot less trouble. And a lot more riding time,
     Would love to see sketches though, I've never seen it done like that.

I have attached two pic's of the setup working on a 750.  They used two VM34 mm Mikuni carbs, Special cast alloy  manifolds.      Motion Pro turbo throttle (7/8 bars),  Motion Pro throttle cable.  Velocity stacks ( screen and foam type). Carb rubbers and stainless clamps.

http://www.cyclexchange.net/ is thier web page.

I was thinking of instead of using two 26mm carbs from the bank, using two VM31 mm carbs.

Any thoughts.
