High Altitude + CB550 + Pods = Jet Size?
« on: February 08, 2010, 08:17:51 AM »
I'm about to embark upon my first carb rebuild for my CB550.  I plan on running pods and live in Denver (5000+ ft), so I'm looking for advice from any of you out there at a like altitude with a similar setup.  Any jetting experience you could share with me would be much appreciated!

I run two CB550 trackbikes in ABQ (similar elevation).  I run basically an open 4-1 pipe with velocity stacks.  I use 105 main jets.  So I would probably look for 102.5's or maybe 100's if you are running pods and a baffle in your exhaust.

Send member GORDON a pm. He has a 500/550 and may even live close to you.

Triffecpa, thanks for the advice!  As a track bike, you probably don't spend much time under 3/4 throttle  ;D ;D, but, can you let me know what pilot jet and needle setting you're running, too?

Jerry, I'll drop Gordon a PM.  Thanks for the contact!

you are correct in that not a lot of time is spent below WOT.  Stock needle settings and pilot jet.
