internet service providers
« on: October 08, 2010, 01:09:51 AM »
whos ever(everyone)had trouble with their internet service provider?ive tried for 4 months to get a billing problem fixed and it just dosent get fixed even after 7 long phone calls, long story short a rep from my provider cold called offering 10 bucks less per month and faster internet as long as we remained with them for another 24 months,,i thought about it then rang and had it all done, next bill is 10 bucks more!so phone call#1,no sweat deduct the overbill and pay the correct amount ...repeat this four times..call 5 and im told its because the accounts arent combined(they are!)so to do this "what ill do for you"is put me on a new plan and itll cost less by a few bucks each month, still didnt work,,im patient and never rude or aggressive on the phone but diplomatic and firm i think, its a different person each time and i always get a ref number etc,so today when i call i tell them again its not right but i dont want you to fix it im just going to contact the communications ombudsman as soon as i finish this call,so i get all the same hype except ive now been put on level 3(what ever that is,i hope theres a bar with free beer up there)and the supervisors supervisors supervisor is on it and i will get a phone call to explain it all and it WILL be fixed, phew!im glad its not a service fault, the thing works ok,all the staff ive spoken with have been polite etc,its just not getting fixed!ill find out by next tuesday at the latest.

You're a very patient man Dave. Must be from working on SOHCs for so long.  ;)
Last year I joined a support group for procrastinators.
We haven't met yet.

its not the mouse clicker on the other ends fault,if you get too cranky they terminate the call,a high tech company with the biggest infrastructure should be able to do this, after all they contacted me about this upgrade(upgrade?),ive worked with the public for years and i know both sides of complaints,i havent actually complained yet.(yet being the operative word)over the years ive had a few things resolved by being patient, but firm and to the point, too bad this company isnt powered by a sohc four,id fix it myself!im going for some type of compensation if i can ,ive put around two hours on the phone easy by now.

I'd be walking into their office with all the equipment they provided and threaten to cancel if they won't straighten it all out on the spot.
Losing a customer completely often gets their attention.  Badmouthing them all over the internet is another option.

I know my #$%* when it comes to computers and have mozilla add ons that monitor my download speeds and connections ,my plan status and lots more, what pisses me off is they like to try and blame the computer instead of their servers or techs and when they realise that i know what i am talking about everything works out just fine. Last time they blamed my computer {Indian call centre} i found out that the servers were being updated and all speeds had been cut down to phone modem speed, i made it clear that that was not what i was paying for and ended up with 2 free months on my plan, this is not the first time i have caught them out bull#$%*ting to get around a problem. I am not really big on liars mate or dodgy business practices so i have no problems letting them know. Haven't been hung up on yet..... ;)

nothing wrong with my speed or such its the billing they cant seem to fathom, its a conspiricy, older folk might not pick it up and just pay the overcharge, others get sick of ringing and just forget about it.

I haven't used telstra in 20 years Dave, they have the worst customer service and a #$%* attitude to match. I'll never give them another cent....

It's the same the world over, don't matter who your provider is, when you're dealing with millions of customers, even the biggest company will make mistakes. :(
After 26 years of not having a phone line to my home, I deceided to take the plunge and be online at home.
I got my employer to have a line installed, (free) no connection charge (free) no line rental (free) Broardband (free) Evening and weekend calls (free) Use of company phone during day (free) and a cell thrown in for good measure (free) Am I a lucky bugger, OR WHAT? ::)

Hey Dave
You should be able to log into your account and have a look at what's going on.
They won't tell ya FA over the phone but you've got the option to change your preferences with the log in set up.
They'll want your user name and pass word to get in but it beats having having to talk to a dead head on the dog and bone.
It's a complete waste of time trying to get any sense out of these donkeys.
I'm guessing that you're with Bigpond.
www.bigpond.com
I got the run around until I got onto this "Manage your Account" thingy.
It's a piece of piss.

Dave, You have to applaude Telstra.
10/10 for consistency.
Earlier this year, I got the run around after the home phone wouldn't work.
The tech guys had been doing something in the pit up the road and they kept saying it was my phone that was buggered.
In the end, it was a problem in the pit and they sent me a cheque for 8 bucks for being a patient and understanding good boy 8)
A few more zeros after the 8 would've calmed me down after all of that.

8 bucks equals about 3 beers.,its the thought that counts!i rang again today to check and it seems fine ,i was told the correct pricing, just have to wait for the bill next month,my mother in law wants to get a computer,we keep telling her you dont want one, shed never handle this type of stuff, she wouldnt have noticed the mistake.
