CB750 F2 Super Sport - Is mine UK or US?
« on: April 26, 2020, 10:47:59 AM »
Hope I'm posting this in the right place …

So I'm just starting the process of restoring my late father in laws '77 Super Sport, but whilst looking for the parts I need it appears there is a UK and US model. How can I tell which one mine is? Are there any clear giveaways?

When I check the tax/MOT status using the UK government portal, it shows that the bike was manufactured in 1977, but first registered in 1995. I'm wondering whether this indicates that it was imported from the US to the UK around this time?

Thanks as always.

Chris.

Do the lights come on with the ignition?
Also if in UK log book should say first registered overseas or similar

Semi Geriatric ex-Honda mechanic and MOT tester (UK version of annual inspection). Garage full of "projects" mostly 500/4 from pre 73 (no road tax in UK).

It looks like a USA model. If it were a UK model, it would only have date of registration on the log book but as Bryan says as a USA import to here in UK it would show date of manufacture and then date of registration in UK.
Trust me I'm a Nurse, I promise it won't hurt....much

In all honesty 99% of the parts are the same and those that are not, like the RH swirchgear and front running lights, can be changed to UK spec with no problem.
Another indication of US spec is an orange with white stripe and light blue with white stripe wire in headlamp, these are the front running lights required in US but not legal in UK.
It could also have been imported from Europe.

EDIT As you are in UK are you on the UK site like myself and Julie?
