Any North Dallasites recommend a welder?
« on: February 25, 2011, 06:04:24 PM »
Hopefully closer to my part of town.  I need to have about an inch cut off the side stand and welded back together.  I do not find any shorter than mine on eBay and it would prolly be about the same price to have done.

I sure wished Spikey lived down this way.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

not from dallas but can give you some advice. First off I am a welder by trade. It will be much cheaper if you take the side stand off yourself and use a hack saw to cut it to length. then just take it to any reputable welding shop and have them mig weld the foot back on. If you make them cut it its probably going to cost you more. It should be about a 2 miniute job for someone that knows what they are doing. BTW why are you cutting your side stand down? Good luck, Fergie.

There's a guy in Frisco I met the other day named Mack Kimberlin that runs a portable welding business.  He's got an outfitted truck and can probably come to you if necessary.   Super nice guy and a certified Harley nut.   He should be able to do it at his house no sweat.

Maybe 3 miles from you??  ;D
